Builders Yard at the Railway

Here are a few more pictures of Barn Swallows that have taken over the local builders big tin shed. The owners of the business are very kind to the Barn Swallows nesting inside the premises, allowing them freedom amongst the vast trading stock inside building.

The Barn Swallows are wise - making nests within the internal rafters on the north side the construction material of the roof being tin and out of the direct sunlight. It was thought that one pair of Barn Swallows stayed all winter one year, but I think could be sparrows that landed in his paint mixer probably. .

The Barn Swallows do stay for the winter sometimes at the fire engine station at Pembroke shire not far from me.   Thought it is the hot orange lights inside the station keeping them warm for the winter nights.
