News from Italy About the Barn Swallows
By Lamberti Marco
I have seen your web site and it's very beautiful and
fantastic that you do so much for the Barn Swallows.
I started to become interested in the Barn Swallows some
time ago, when I was a child there was a big population of barn swallows in our country (now I am 39 years
old) and now the Barn Swallow population is not so plentiful.
But in my town I contribute to a project
with people of like minds to protect the Barn Swallow population in our
town.
I'm writing from Italy, I know there's a lot of Swallow
that stay in Ebbaken (Nigeria) during the winter but, your work is very important for me and news of
your Barn Swallow roost is encouraging.
In this year I discovered a lot of Barn Swallow nests at
the home of a farmer (I think about 50 Barn Swallows in total), this is good news because in
all of Europe, North of Italy mostly, we have seen a decrease in Barn Swallow numbers of
40% over the past ten years....
Last Saturday and today I have seen about 20 Barn Swallows I
think ready to leave.

Photo of a farm where there's a window in
the doorway, this farmer opens the window all morning because inside there's a lot of Barn
Swallows.
Throughout the night the Barn Swallows
are quiet and protected in their nests beneath the steel roof.
